The only personality trait people claim and con artists fake with 100% success.
means The capacity to find things funny — and ideally, to see the absurdity in life, including your own.
from 'Sense' traces back to Latin 'sensus' (faculty of feeling, perceiving), while 'humor' comes from Latin 'umor' (fluid, liquid) — rooted in the old medical theory of the four bodily humors (blood, phlegm, yellow bile, black bile), whose balance was believed to determine mood and temperament. By the 1600s 'humor' had drifted from 'bodily fluid' to 'mood' to 'whim' to, eventually, 'comicality.' So 'sense of humor' literally means the faculty for perceiving what's funny — but it's built from a word that originally meant you were basically a bag of liquids.
