The 5K you run so pie stops being a moral dilemma.
means A fast, frisky ragtime-era dance (and the name later recycled for those Thanksgiving charity fun-runs) marked by quick trotting steps and bouncy hops.
from Coined in the early 1900s American dance craze that also gave us the fox trot and grizzly bear — all named, half-jokingly, for animal gaits. The turkey's strutting, head-bobbing walk supplied the image: dancers trotted with short, jerky steps said to mimic a turkey pecking its way across a barnyard. The dance scandalized moralists for its closeness and energy; the 'running for pie' race sense is a much later, purely American pun on the holiday bird.
